The Main Pump Station for the 2 Million m² Irrigation Network at Al Yamama Cement was developed to support and operate a large-scale landscape irrigation system within the facility. The station was designed to efficiently distribute irrigation water across approximately two million square meters through a robust and reliable pumping system. The scope of work included the installation of high-capacity pumps connected to a 225 mm pipeline system, along with essential hydraulic components such as gate valves, check valves, strainers, pressure gauges, and air release valves to ensure smooth and safe operation of the irrigation network. The station was constructed on a reinforced concrete base to provide stability and long-term durability under continuous operation.

Challenges & Solutions

 

Executing the pump station within an industrial environment such as Al Yamama Cement presented several technical and logistical challenges. The harsh site conditions, dust, and high temperatures required the selection of durable equipment capable of operating reliably under demanding conditions. Additionally, precise alignment and installation of the 225 mm pipeline connections and valve assemblies were critical to ensure efficient water flow and system protection. These challenges were addressed through careful engineering planning, the use of high-quality materials, and professional installation practices, ensuring that all hydraulic components—including strainers, check valves, and air release valves—function effectively to protect the pumps and maintain stable system pressure.

Project Outcome

 

The successful completion of the pump station provided Al Yamama Cement with a reliable and efficient irrigation infrastructure capable of serving approximately 2,000,000 m² of landscape areas. The system ensures stable water distribution throughout the irrigation network while protecting the pumping equipment from pressure fluctuations and debris.
